Winter Theme Email Entries

Hi everyone!
I have a mid-week post with beautiful new email entries to share from our friend Margaret in Yorkshire.

Margaret writes:

I was delighted to be chosen as one of the Top Three in last month’s Challenge and looking through the cards I made to send to friends and family I found these three which I thought would just fit the bill for this month.

The first card is just a simple Tree and I then created the hills using torn paper, adding some glitter for a wintry effect.

For number 2 I used a template to create the oval and stamped the scene inside using the Forest Ridge Stamp and the tops of the tree , both from Clarity Stamps, and the stamping the tree on the outside of the oval.

For card number 3 I used Clarity Stamps once again, The window was stamped and coloured onto a separate piece of card and the cut out, and the scene outside used the miniature fir tree and the Christmas Star.  For the background I used a polka dot embossing folder, and I completed the scene with a die-cut border, some grosgrain ribbon and pearls.

Hope you like them!

Wishing you all the best for the New Year

Thank you Margaret, they are all lovely.

Craft a Scene Trees Challenge - Week 3

Today is clear and c-c-c-cold in the Northwest!  I do love the fall with all its colors and weather changes. We are continuing our Trees challenge and we are seeing very beautiful entries.  It seems this challenge does inspire you all.  You can jump to Mr. Linky if you wish, but why not scroll down and check out our new inspiration.

I have some lovely email entries to share as well as our faithful DT designs.

Margaret in Yorkshire -

Margaret from Huddersfield in Yorkshire.  Haven’t been in touch for a while, I’ve either left it too late to enter the challenge , or I just haven’t had an idea for a card.

The Trees, Tress, Trees Challenge set me thinking, and looking through our stock of stamps I decided to use just one set of stamps from Claritystamp.  The name of the stamp set is Winter Trees and their Mantles and includes 4 bear trees and 4 mantles , or foliage stamps along with a border stamp.
For the card I used Adirondack inkpads in blues and greens , a brayer and torn paper to create the background.  I then stamped the border along the bottom and added the bare trees using Versafine onyx black.  I then added the Mantles using various shades of greens.  Then with Adirondack inkpad in Pesto and torn paper I grounded all the trees.  As a final touch I added some tiny bird ,also from Claritystamp, and sponged around the edges to help add dimention.

I have named the picture Woodland Glen.  Hope you like it.

And from her daughter Dawn -

I bought a Memory Box stencil the other week which fits the theme perfectly, so I've made two cards with it.  For the first, I used just one stamp - a Pheasant from Clarity Stamps; for my second, I used all Lavinia stamps (Stag, various Snowflakes, and a Fern stamp to add foliage around the edge).

Well, that's two Christmas cards finished at least!

Here is what our talented Sue has created for you today.

Now it is your turn to make a scene that includes a moon.  You may enter up to 3 times and as many other challenges as you wish. If you do not have a blog or account on Split Coast Stampers, then just email me a picture of the piece and I will add it to one of our posts.

Craft a Scene Trees, Trees, Trees Challenge - Week 2

This is our second week of the Trees challenge and we already have several wonderful entries.  This is such a nice time of year with a great variety of weather days.  So far, my town has had torrential rains, warm sunny days, cloudy grey days and a frost (so much for the garden).  The trees respond to this variety by dropping there leaves all over my yard!

I have email entries from Barb this week - love the birch trees!

Please make sure that your scenic card, tag or project has stamped images in the foreground and background.  We are a scenic challenge after all!

Rachel has made us a fabulous card for inspiration.

Now it is your turn to make a scene that includes a moon.  You may enter up to 3 times and as many other challenges as you wish. If you do not have a blog or account on Split Coast Stampers, then just email me a picture of the piece and I will add it to one of our posts.

With the advent of fall and the passing of Halloween we are seeing all the green leaves turn a multitude of colors.....

Please make sure that your scenic card, tag or project has stamped images of trees with foreground and background images.  We are a scenic challenge after all!

Craft a Scene Silvery Moon Challenge - Top 3

We had only 13 cards this month and no email entries.  I think everyone must be busy!  Our theme, By the Silvery Moon might cause us to break into song at any moment, but it is time to reveal our top 3 winners.

If you have a blog, please feel free to add our badge to your side bar.

If you do not have a blog then be sure to check back for the comments left about your fabulous entries.

Here are the selections for the top three for October - By the Silvery Moon.

#4 Doreen

I couldn't help but choose one of Rosie's fabulous entries, even though she entered four times (that's a no-no!).  Also it is fitting that we just passed Halloween and her last entry was lucky (or unlucky depending on your point of view) #13.

These are all wonderful projects ladies.  See you in a few minutes with our next challenge theme.

Happy Stamping!

Craft a Scene By the Silvery Moon - Week 3

The other night I was letting the dog out and was struck by how light it was for being so late.  I stepped further from the house to get a look at the sky and could not believe how big, round and bright the moon looked.  Immediately I thought of our challenge and realized that our theme was definitely appropriate for this time of year.

We are a scenic challenge so we expect to see that big silvery moon on your finished card or tag and if you don't have a blog just send me an email and I will include your wonderful creation in the next post.  If you need to skip to Mr. Linky you can do so here.

Craft a Scene - By the Silvery Moon Challenge

By the Silvery Moon is a challenge that we had last year with great success and I thought it would be appropriate to repeat it this fall.

We all love the scenes that crafters do with bright shiny moons and moons reflecting of watery surfaces.  This theme also allows for a Halloween look to your scene.

Please make sure that your scenic card, tag or project has stamped images in the foreground and background.  We are a scenic challenge after all!
