Craft a Scene - By the Sea Final Week

We are seeing such wonderful scenes in our "By the Sea" challenge this month! If you have time, enter our challenge before you head out to your own holiday.  We are looking for stamped or digi'd scenes with foreground and background images by the sea which means  you need to include a bit of sand and water.

I have more email entries to share:

Here's my entry for the June challenge at Craft-A-Scene.  I started out by creating my desert island, with its lone palm tree (a stamp from Clarity Stamp).  The sunburst behind the island was made with a Clarity stencil; I made the sea by tearing strips of masking tape and layering them up, then brushing them with Salty Ocean Distress Ink.  My original idea had been to add a greeting as a message in a bottle, floating in the ocean, but I realised that:
(a) I don't have a bottle stamp;
(b) I can't draw!; and
(c) the bottle would have to be way out of proportion if the greeting was to be legible!

So, having given up on that idea, I needed something else for the foreground - and then I remembered that we had a Galleon stamp (also from Clarity), which might work quite nicely.  For my first attempt, I stamped it in black, but it looked  a bit heavy, so I tried again, this time stamping with Versamark and embossing with blue embossing powder.  The embossed finish also made it easier to cut away all the tiny pieces of card that were showing through the rigging.  I then fixed the ship onto the card using 3d foam mounts.

As I've used only Clarity Stamps for this card, I'm going to submit it to this month's challenge on their website too (the theme there is "Masculine")

Now on to the design team creations:

Such fabulous scenes! Now it is your turn to "Make your own garden" project. You may enter up to 3 times and as many other challenges as you wish. If you do not have a blog or account on Split Coast Stampers, then just email me a picture of the piece and I will add it to one of our posts.

If you are not sure what constitutes a scenic project, check out the information here.

Craft a Scene By the Sea Challenge - Week 4

Our theme for the month of June is "By the Sea".  Our designers are really enjoying this theme and we hope you are too. If you need to you can Jump to the link here.

I more wonderful email entries to share.  This one is from Barbara in Houston Texas.

This one is from Margaret:

Margaret from Huddersfield in Yorkshire with my entry for “Beside the Sea Challenge.”  The lighthouse, the cliff top and the birds in flight are from Lindsay Mason’s Personal Impressions  “Cliff  Top Scene” , whilst the rocks were created using free stamps from the “Creative Stamping Magazine”, and are actually bird’s eggs.    After I stamped and coloured in the lighthouse, the cliff and rocks, I had to mask them all so that I could create the background using a sponge and Adirondack inks, and a white gel pen to give an illusion of waves.  I’m not sure where I got the small boat stamp.

I didn’t’ have a seagull stamp of the correct size, so I stamped the only one I had and then took a photograph of the image, imported this into Photoshop and resized the image creating two or three different sizes, printed the result and cut them out, using the two you see in the front of my card.

Take a look at what the talented Craft a Scene design team has created as your inspiration.

It's time to finish up your entry! You may enter up to 3 times and as many other challenges as you wish. If you do not have a blog or account on Split Coast Stampers, then just email me a picture of the piece and I will add it to one of our posts.

Craft a Scene Garden Scene Winners

Happy Sunday to everyone!  I am actually out camping this weekend and enjoying the sun.  Today is the day we reveal our wonderful top 3 challenge entries.

This it was easy to pick the top 3 cards as there were not that many entries that actually qualified.  We are a scenic challenge which means that the entry must be a stamped or digi'd scene with background and foreground images.

Here are the selections for the top three for May.  Be sure to take our badge to add to your blogs (if you have one).
