Down on the Farm at Craft a Scene

Good Morning everyone!  Our theme this month is "Down on the Farm"!  There are all kinds of farms so the scope is wide on this one.

In the West, many of our farms are ranch style with horses and cattle or milking cows (I know we also have lots of crops too). In the South, the farm might be more plantation like.  Many farms everywhere are crops based. Please consider creating a farm scene according to your regional area or with whatever stamps you have on hand.

You will see by the design teams amazing inspiration that there are many different types of farms.

Brenda - Floral Fantasies

Anna-Karin - Layers of Ink

Maggie - Silver Crafter

Now it is your turn to show us what farms in your area look like.  Please make sure your creations are finished projects like cards and tags.  You may enter up to 3 times and as many challenges as you wish.  If you do not have a blog or account on Split Coast Stampers, then just email me a picture of the piece and I will add it to one of our posts.

If you are not sure what constitutes a scenic project, check out the information here.

Don't forget to add GDT to your link if you wish to be considered for a guest spot.

Have fun creating!

Welcome To Our New Design Team Members

Let's all give a warm welcome to the new additions to our wonderful design team.  Please leave them a little love on their blogs and we will all look forward to their great projects over the coming weeks.

Pia - Pippin's Stampscapes

My name is Pia, but I call myself Pippin in most places concerning crafts. I live in beautiful Lapland in the northern parts of Sweden with my husband Michael and our cutie dog Cindy.

I have been making cards since 2006 and I love it. I have always been crafting in some ways. I have made my own clothes since I was about 12 years old. I also make jewelry and I paint, mostly water colours. Scenic stamping is my absolute favourite, and I first discovered Beeswax Rubber Stamps in 2007. Then Stampscapes came into my world, and I just love them. I often incorporate different stamp brands into my scenes, often stamps that are not intended for scenic stamping. I see it as a challenge for myself to use as many different stamps as possible, also digital stamps. Sometimes I even draw my own pictures if I don't have a suitable stamp for my scene.

I am very happy to be a part of this fantastic design team.

Hello, my name is Rachel Fisher. I'm a 44 year old mum of two young girls - Lucy who is 6 and Penny who will be 5 when this hits the blogs! I'm very happily married to Shaun who is a physics Professor and we live in the Lune Valley in Lancashire.

I run - this year I'm running the great North run for Asthma UK. I do aerobics classes. I run a pack of Rainbows and chair the PTA at the girls' school. I also go into the school one morning a week to hear the children read and also run a gardening club at school.

When I have time I love to craft - stamping is my passion - recently I've been doing the Chemistry 101 course by Tim Holtz and I'm loving every minute of it!

Sue - Sue's Crafty Corner

Hi name is Sue, I'm 52 and I live in the North of Hampshire in the UK, along with my Husband Steve of 33 years. I have two grown up Children Vicky 29 and Martin 26, Vicky lives with her partner and Martin still lives at home.

I've been crafting most of my life, starting with knitting and sewing, something that both my Mother and Grandmother taught me to do. As I've got older I've tried lots of different crafts, some for a short time and some that have lasted longer.

I've been card making for about 10 years now, I started with CD's and very quickly
found myself buying stamps and ink pads. This is now my passion, although I do enjoy a good book, and like to travel when funds allow.

Welcome to our team ladies!

Craft a Scene Design Team Call

This is a sticky and will stay up until the end of the DT Call.  If you wish to jump to Mr. Linky - click here.

Craft a Scene is having a design team call to replace a couple of members who need to step down.

Our design team members enjoy making scenes with a variety of stamps or digis and have their own blog.  Each design team member makes two scenic projects per month based on a theme and comments on a selection of entries.  It is that simple!

You don't have to have a lot of experience making scenes or with blogging.  We are looking for all levels of the craft.

We also have a DT only blog where we chat back and forth and post our projects, by the due date.

If you are interested in being a part of this creative team please email me at Craftascene at shaw dot ca with your blog name and the team will have a look. Please apply before March 30th.  The new design team will be announced with the following Sunday's challenge.

We are looking forward to seeing your work and can't wait to have you join our team!

Let Your Light Shine - email entry

Hi Everyone!

I received this lovely email entry from Dawn (daughter of Margaret from Yorkshire).  I should have posted this yesterday before the challenge ended, but there was just too much to do.

She wrote:
A late entry for the February Craft A Scene challenge - who knew there were so many lighthouse stamps available!   Mum (that's Margaret from Yorkshire to you) and I have two - she's already submitted a scene using the Lindsay Mason Cliff Top Scene stamps, so I thought I'd use the other lighthouse that we have in our shared collection.  This is a small individual clear stamp, which we picked up at the Happy Stampers North West show in Port Sunlight a couple of years ago - I'm afraid I can't recall the specific retailer/producer.  The yachts are a HobbyArt stamp called "yacht race"; the seagulls, sentiment, rowing boat and lifebuoy are from the Butterfly Kisses "Far Away" set, and the pebbles on the sand are an Art Impressions stamp ("teeny tiny flowers"?)

I water-coloured the images, then framed the scene with some braided ribbon - a new technique for me, but one is very clearly explained by Christina of Card-Making-Magic http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=kR63I-vyls0

Once again, I've enjoyed gaining inspiration from the challenge and all the scenes which have been submitted by the design team and other challenge-participants - it's good to have a theme to work to, and a deadline!

Looking forward to the next challenge.

That's all for today.  In the morning we will have the winners from the February Let Your Light Shine challenge and the theme for March.

Have a great day!
NancyD
