Winners - Let Your Light Shine Challenge

Hello everyone!  I am here with a post to proclaim our winners from the Let Your Light Shine challenge.

Before I get to the winner of the Art Impression lighthouse stamp and the amazing top 3, I just want to thank Mrs. A for being our Guest Designer this month.

So here goes, I used Random.org to find our winner out of 25 entries (21 on Mr. Linky and 4 email) who is non other than #8 Stephanie - A West Country Crafter Reach out to me Stephanie with your address and I will mail out your Art Impressions Lighthouse stamp (my email address is in the upper right corner of this blog).

I reviewed all 25 fabulous Lighthouse entries multiple times to try and narrow down my first picks.  They were all wonderful and I ended up choosing these entries for the top 3.

The top three, in numerical order:

#2 - Carla - Knutselateljeeke

#15 - Lada - My Cards

Thank you to all our entrants for their great Lighthouse scenes.  I saw that some of them from the DT and the challengers were hand drawn.  Pretty exciting and special!

I'll be back in a few minutes with our new theme form March.

Have a great morning.

Let Your Light Shine - email entry

Hi Everyone!

I received this lovely email entry from Dawn (daughter of Margaret from Yorkshire).  I should have posted this yesterday before the challenge ended, but there was just too much to do.

She wrote:
A late entry for the February Craft A Scene challenge - who knew there were so many lighthouse stamps available!   Mum (that's Margaret from Yorkshire to you) and I have two - she's already submitted a scene using the Lindsay Mason Cliff Top Scene stamps, so I thought I'd use the other lighthouse that we have in our shared collection.  This is a small individual clear stamp, which we picked up at the Happy Stampers North West show in Port Sunlight a couple of years ago - I'm afraid I can't recall the specific retailer/producer.  The yachts are a HobbyArt stamp called "yacht race"; the seagulls, sentiment, rowing boat and lifebuoy are from the Butterfly Kisses "Far Away" set, and the pebbles on the sand are an Art Impressions stamp ("teeny tiny flowers"?)

I water-coloured the images, then framed the scene with some braided ribbon - a new technique for me, but one is very clearly explained by Christina of Card-Making-Magic http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=kR63I-vyls0

Once again, I've enjoyed gaining inspiration from the challenge and all the scenes which have been submitted by the design team and other challenge-participants - it's good to have a theme to work to, and a deadline!

Looking forward to the next challenge.

That's all for today.  In the morning we will have the winners from the February Let Your Light Shine challenge and the theme for March.

Have a great day!

Final Week - Let Your Light Shine!

Click here if you want to skip down to Mr. Linky.

It is the last week of our "Let Your Light Shine" challenge.  You still have time to get your project in for the random draw for a lighthouse stamp from Art Impressions.

I have two more email entries to include in the challenge.  The first one is from Mel. Lovely job Mel!

The second is another card from our friend Margaret in Yorkshire.

Margaret wrote....

Margaret from Yorkshire here again.  This challenge has proved more difficult – however having only just bought Lindsay Mason’s Cliff Top Scene set of stamps, I couldn't let the challenge pass me by.

The inspiration for the card came from a very old song, sung by Conrad Veidt, called Where the Lighthouse Shines Across the Bay.  (Anyone who used to listen to Terry Wogan on BBC Radio 2 may well remember him playing this song on a regular basis, albeit a bit scratchy).   I have named my card Come Home my Love which is a line from the song.

Stamps used:
From Lindsay Mason Cliff top Scene set:   Cliff top, Lighthouse,  Seagulls,  Fence, Grass.
From Butterfly Kisses Far Away set:  Maiden watching

I used a selection of Adirondack and Tim Holtz Distress Inks for the brayering  and a White Gel pen to add the foam of the waves.  The girl was stamped onto White shrink plastic and coloured before shrinking. As originally stamped, she stands almost as tall as the Lighthouse! The finishing touch was the fence stamped onto acetate and attached to the card to ground the girl.

We also have two beautiful lighthouse creations from the design team to share with you this week.

Brenda - Floral Fantasies

We only want to see finished stamped or digi scenes (no ATC's or unmounted work).  If you are not sure what constitutes a scenic project, check out the information here.
You may enter up to 3 times and as many challenges as you wish.  If you do not have a blog or account on Split Coast Stampers, then just email me a picture of the piece and I will add it to one of our posts.
Don't forget to add GDT to your link if you wish to be considered for a guest spot.

Let Your Light Shine!

Light is everywhere: flashlights, light bulbs, street lamps, stadiums and playing fields. God is light: the sun, moon and stars were placed in the heavens so that we have light.

We can see because some kind of light bounces off objects and reflects back to our eyes who interpret the objects.  This is not a scientific explanation but it reminds us that without light we would not be able to see our surroundings or the faces of our loved ones. Without light there is only darkness.

For the month of February, our challenge is to let our light shine!  Your project must have a lighthouse as the main image.  Please also tell us how you are letting your light shine this month with your project.
